This year, for the first time in 12 years,\u00a0<\/span>Cameroon<\/span>\u00a0proudly participated in the prestigious NASA Space Apps Challenge, thanks to the efforts of\u00a0<\/span>CAYSTI<\/span>. The annual event brings together teams from across the globe to collaborate for 48 hours, developing innovative solutions to some of NASA\u2019s most pressing challenges. These challenges span a wide range of topics, from space exploration and environmental issues to public health, all leveraging NASA\u2019s geospatial data.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

A Global Competition \ud83c\udf10<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

The\u00a0<\/span>NASA Space Apps Challenge<\/span>\u00a0draws participants from over 200 countries, uniting thousands of innovators, developers, scientists, and technology enthusiasts. This global diversity fosters a rich exchange of creative ideas, resulting in impactful solutions.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

This year\u2019s competition featured 20 diverse challenges, including topics like creating interactive games simulating microgravity and exploring the links between gender inequality and climate change. InfoBridge<\/span>\u00a0is a dynamic web dashboard designed to visualize the intersection between gender inequality and the impact of natural disasters. By using real-world data, the platform generates interactive scatter plots comparing disaster metrics (e.g., earthquake impact, flood severity) with gender inequality indices across continents. With an intuitive, user-friendly interface powered by\u00a0<\/span>Chart.js<\/span>, users can filter data and analyze trends through linear regression lines. Moreover, InfoBridge integrates an advanced\u00a0<\/span>RAG system<\/span>\u00a0driven by\u00a0<\/span>Mistral<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>LangChain<\/span>, allowing users to ask questions and access accurate, real-time information from partner URLs and research reports. The app\u2019s primary focus is on improving disaster management and promoting gender equality in crisis response.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

SDG Learn<\/span>\u00a0is an educational app designed to teach students about energy concepts and sustainable development through interactive lessons and quizzes. The app covers various energy production methods such as solar, wind, and hydropower, while also integrating\u00a0<\/span>NASA Earth observation data<\/span>\u00a0to simulate energy potential in different regions. Students can explore data on solar irradiance and wind speeds, making real-world connections to their studies. The app tracks progress, offering rewards like badges and points, motivating students to engage with energy efficiency practices and sustainable energy solutions.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

How It Works:<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

1. Students select topics like solar energy or wind power aligned with their curriculum.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

Space Race<\/span>\u00a0is an innovative interactive game that simulates the challenges of living and moving in a microgravity environment. Players answer questions and engage in physical exercises based on their responses, blending education with fun and physical activity. The game\u2019s key features include:<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

1.\u00a0<\/span>Alternating Player Participation:<\/span>\u00a0Players take turns answering questions and performing exercises.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

2.\u00a0<\/span>Performance Bar:<\/span>\u00a0Correct answers and physical tasks contribute to the progress of a performance bar.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

3.\u00a0<\/span>Elimination by Errors:<\/span>\u00a0Incorrect answers lead to elimination after three mistakes, adding an element of strategy.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n
